4th Workshop on “Ecology & Hydropower on Large Rivers”

8th of August 2025
Recently our partners at TUM had the opportunity to participate in a workshop that was delivered as part of the dialogue series “Ecology & Hydropower on Large Rivers”, which supports the sustainable use of hydropower in Bavaria in line with water management, nature conservation, and climate policies. It builds on the first workshop which was held in 2019, and focuses on key topics such as fish migration routes, turbine mortality, and the effects of hydropower and habitat measures on fish populations.

As part of the event's proceedings, our partners at TUM presented the iNNO SED project with an information stand during the breaks, giving participants the opportunity to learn about its innovative approaches to sediment management and river restoration. Around 120 participants discussed recent research results in plenary sessions and moderated working groups to develop strategic recommendations and identify further research needs.

For those who missed the opportunity to attend, we are happy to announce that all presentations will be published in the journal WasserWirtschaft to make the results accessible to a broader audience.
