iNNO SED Summer School 2026 Update!

iNNO SED partners Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWPCEE) and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) have been very busy reviewing all the applications submitted for our summer school on “Innnovating River Futures: From Sediment Science To Field Action” which will be held this year 28th June- 3rd July in GÖD, Hungary.

Firstly, we wish to thank all the applicants who took the time to submit entries – a total of 20 (out of 127!!!) participants have been selected for the Summer School. Participants are currently studying or working in 11 different European countries, while their personal and academic backgrounds represent a total of approximately 16 countries worldwide, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East – ensuring broad scoping geographical, cultural and academic diversity

Some of the selected participants joining us are currently based in Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Czech Republic, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria/North Macedonia, Switzerland, and Sweden with several participants bringing international backgrounds beyond their country of study, including origins from Lebanon, Albania, India, Iran, and the Philippines. This mix creates a truly international and multicultural learning environment, enriching discussions with a wide range of perspectives on river systems, sediment management, and water-related challenges.

The selected participants come from a variety of academic and professional fields, including hydrology, environmental science, engineering, water management, and related disciplines, forming a promising, interdisciplinary group. Overall, the particpants represent a highly motivated and diverse group of emerging professionals, well aligned with the objectives of the Summer School and with strong potential to contribute to future innovation in sustainable river and sediment management.
