iNNO SED presenting in Kopački Rit
Our partners at UNIZAG were out promoting iNNO SED at the nature park Kopački Rit
1 October 2026
iNNO SED was represented and presented by our partners from the University of Zagreb (UNIZAG) in the nature park Kopački Rit in Croatia. This was an apt opportunity as their demo site, the Drava-Danube confluence, is a prominent part of the park. The specific occasion was the 15th International Symposium Kopački Rit: Past, Present, Future 2026.

Their session “Sediment management to nature-based river training: concept of an artificial island at the Drava–Danube confluence” described the conditions at the confluence and showed their fieldwork.
This important river feature is a perfect opportunity to learn more about the dynamics between sedimentation, climate, ecology and navigation. To investigate these, our partners at UNIZAG have been occupied with employing digital models, testing real-world solutions and observing changes at the confluence.
Partially due to the rivers coursing through the park, it is one of the best preserved and largest wetlands in Europe. As such, Kopački Rit, in particular the Drava-Danube confluence, is nicknamed the Amazon of Europe.
